What is Business English?
Many People explains Business English as the Language for International Business. But it not absolutely Right. For better understanding I may borrow some lines. That are as follow:
Business English is a very Western concept. It means all of the language people use to do business, what they say on the job, and working life is considered to be separate from private, everyday life. Sometimes business jargon – that is, phrases used so much they become a cliché – pop up in our regular language, but that can make us feel just a little uncomfortable. Example: to invest in a relationship. I dislike that phrase intensely, but it shows that the society I come from, the USA, places high value on market processes. I personally believe that Business English is much more than that. I’m here to learn from you how you use English on the job. English is a global language, and so is Business English.
To me English is a language, nothing more. Where there is people there is business, obviously there are languages too. Business English is a type of language which is specially used professionally. To define more clearly; I can reffer it as a Register Language. When perticular group of people use perticular type of language for their professional purposes though they have their own languages and they belong to different language communities, it is called Register. So, to me Business English is Register; here is another dimention of thought!, that is: why it is Business English( A Frequently Asked Question); A name of fame! As, English Nationbs are dominating the world, historically the English Sun never sat, and the English Courtesy, Politeness are being practised and followed over all the world, and these properties reach this language to such a status of fame; and thats why it is Business English.
